Made in SF: Charles Chocolates

Charles Chocolates
We recently paid a visit to Charles Chocolates.  Founded in its current location in 2004 by Chuck Seigel, Charles Chocolate set out to make confections in San Francisco using only the finest ingredients.  His mission paid off.  Charles Chocolate’s snacking cake has been reported to be one of SF’s 8 most decadent desserts by Zagat and Charles Chocolate has been reported by Eater SF to be one of the 12 best chocolate shops for Valentine’s day.

If you haven’t ever tried Charles Chocolates, we highly recommend that you visit the shop.   It offers a variety of pre-packaged chocolate such as gourmet bars, fleur de sel caramels, and triple chocolate almonds.  The retail shop also has counter service where you can buy individual chocolates and other desserts.  If you are feeling truly indulgent, you can even buy their fleur de sel caramels in an edible box.  Does it get any better than that?

Not only does Charles Chocolates offer amazing products that you can buy in their retail shop, they have observation windows into the production areas (which makes it a perfect place for an afternoon treat with out of town guests).  They also offer an afternoon tea at noon on Sundays (reservations required) served on their patio.

We love that Mr. Seigel was inspired to make delicious chocolate here in SF, did not compromise his standards, and has succeeded in becoming one of the preeminent small batch chocolate makers in the country.  If you love chocolate, we highly recommend a trip to Charles Chocolates.  You will not be disappointed.
